Ever wonder how you keep from blowing your top at work? The answer is you don't. All that pent up tension-- that bad energy-- has to go somewhere. It ends up in our necks and shoulders and back. Here are some stretches --okay, "yoga"--you can do at your desk to release some of the tension. 1. Head Rolls. Your head is very heavy compared to your neck. Think of it like a bowling ball on top of your neck. The neck has to balance the bowling ball all day. To make matters worse, the ball moves-- it bends down, up, sideways. Moreover, it tilts when its owner needs to talk on the phone, so the neck has to maintain the heavy ball at an exact angle. To strengthen your neck, try this. Roll your head down on your chest for a few seconds. Now roll it back to look at the ceiling for a few seconds. Now look to the left so your chin lines up with your shoulders. Now look to the right. Repeat 3 times. 3. Shoulder Rolls. Imagine you need to row a boat. But you have no arms so you need to row with your shoulders alone. Roll your shoulders back to row the boat. Try to row at least 10 times. Now reverse direction. Row the boat forward 10 times. 4. Shoulder Release. Next, stretch the shoulders by taking the right arm and crossing it under your neck., Use the left arm to press the right arm very gently. Do the same with the left arm. This is a very good shoulder joint stretch. 5. Back Stretch. Stand with feet shoulder length apart. Pull one leg up with the arm on the same side as the leg. Now do the opposite leg. Now stand next to a wall. Lean into the wall as though you are trying to hold it up. Feel the gentle stretch in your lower back. Repeat twice a day. Register -It's free, easy and fast.
