Delhomme, Contributing Columnist President Barack Obama's approval rating has plummeted to 38%, according to a new Gallup poll released Friday, October 4, 2011. The drop to 38% approval matches the lowest approval rating Gallup has ever recorded for the President -- he also reached 38% on August 23, 2011. Perhaps equally alarming to his supporters, the trend for the Presidents' approval numbers, like confetti dropped from a tall building, has invariably drifted downward. Certainly, there have been moments when the confetti lifted, bouyed by a temporary wind such as the killing of Osama Bin Laden, and those brief moments must also have lifted his supporters hopes that his now clear decline in popularity could be reversed. But gravity has prevailed. And, stepping back from the instant ups and downs, the larger trend is clear: President Obama has become an unpopular President who appears to be growing ever more unpopular with each passing month.
