There have been very few scientific studies that concentrate on race as a factor in penis size and none that we could find that specifically dealt with black men. The data we found is from studies that looked at a wide population and then separated the results by race. In these studies, there was no difference in penis length in the black population as compared to Caucasian men. For example, a 2007 review entitled 'Penile size and the 'small penis syndrome' from the Porterbrook Clinic and Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, UK and St James' Hospital in Leeds looked at more than 50 research projects and found little evidence of racial difference in penis size. The previously discussed 2006 study from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi, Nigeria, which looked at Nigerian men, found the median penis length to be 13.37cm. This is similar to the findings of a 2007 UK project entitled 'Penile size and the 'small penis syndrome' from the Porterbrook Clinic and Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, UK and St James' Hospital in Leeds. Researchers looked at more than 50 research projects and 12 studies that measured 11,531 men’s penises. They concluded the length of an average penis ranged from 14-16cms (5.5 to 6.2 inches) in length and 12-13cm (4.7 to 5.1 inches) in girth. However, these studies made no separation in terms of race. We can only conclude that this myth is false, until further relevant studies are completed. Do Asian Men Have Smaller Penises? This myth is difficult to prove true or false, as the evidence seems to be around equal on both sides. Researchers have looked at Asian and Caucasian babies to see if there is a significant difference in penis length at this stage of life. The results have been mixed. One 2000 study from the Department of Neonatology, Singapore General Hospital looked at Asian babies to see if the norm for micropenis was applicable to babies from Asia and not only to babies from the West. The researchers found the mean penile length for Asian babies born full-term was 3.6cm, which is similar to Caucasian babies. However, a 2006 study from China Medical University Hospital, Taichung, Taiwan studied the penis length of boys in Taiwan and found that Taiwanese boys had a shorter penis length than Caucasian boys from newborn to five years old. And a 2001 study from the British Columbia's Children's Hospital, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada looked at multiethnic newborns and concluded that the mean penis length and girth was “slightly but significantly smaller” for Chinese newborns than Caucasian and East-Indian babies. Also, a small 2007 study from Dr Promodu's Institute of Sexual & Marital Health, Panampilly Nagar, Kochi, India measured 301 Indian men and found the mean stretched length of the penis was 10.88 cm. This represents a significant difference to the size of men’s penises as measured in other countries. Researchers who found a difference in penis length between Asians and Caucasians speculated whether the generally shorter stature of Asian men may be a reason for the results.
